Surgery!!! December 12, 2016.

This picture to the left was right before my first surgery. My first surgery that I have ever had. I was SOOO nervous, I thought for sure that I was going to be sick. Just waiting until my surgeon finished up the surgery before mine and then I would be called in! Ah! I had absolutely no idea what to expect and I was terrified about how I would feel after surgery now that I had so much time to research and get stories from others that have had similar surgeries, or anesthesia problems. I was just so scared. (Thinking back now, it really isn't as bad as you imagine). I knew that I trusted and knew my surgeon/ specialist was amazing. My nurses were amazing and I may have had a crush on my anesthesiologist! Lol. I met the surgeon that would be assisting in my surgery literally 20 minutes before my surgery. He was so funny so naturally, he made me feel very comfortable, even joked that I could keep the beautiful slippers and hair cap after as a gift! Time went quickly, and before I know it I was getting the medication to make me sleep during surgery.

As you can see, my stomach had grown quite a bit in the month between finding the mass and my surgery. The wait shouldn't have been so long, but it is what it is! I'm just lucky that it has been dealt with.
I woke up in the recovery room and it literally felt like no time had passed, but of course it did! My surgeon woke me up and told me good news- the mass that was there, looked benign(non-cancerous) and that he also was able to save my right ovary and fallopian tube! Amazing. Everything was fine and dandy and I was recovering very well from this surgery. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days in Peterborough and yes, I had a catheter! (holds your pee until your muscles recuperate enough so you can go on your own.. these things are amazing. You can just go pee whenever you want without moving). Laziness at its finest :)

After surgery, I was still on the anesthesia and also a pain control pump, needless to say, I was feeling good! I don't remember anything, but I apparently said some pretty crazy stuff and thought I was TBE (The best ever). And yes, thats a pooh pillow in the picture! My family has a weird obsession with pooh emoji pillows. :D I also called the Peterborough hospital a 5 star resort.. oh boy! haha. I don't think I thought the same when I kept getting broth for every meal. Luckily, I was doing well and wasn't there for too long. Anyways, after a few days, I was started to walk a bit with some help and got to go home! From there recover went well. I was feeling stronger and stronger everyday.
I was feeling very optimistic after surgery as the doctors were telling me positive things. I had an appointment booked for December 28, 2016 for my post-operation visit. We were expecting nothing but good news.
Nic, :)
